Going Natural - India’s hair story
Our photographer India Jackson is getting a hair makeover today. She is transitioning to being natural and slowly growing out the chemical straightener in her hair. Our awesome hairstylist Erica Cote will be giving her what some refer to as a big chop. Basically it is when you cut off the majority of the unnatural textured hair. India has been known for having lots of different and sometimes crazy hairstyles in her past. Here are a few moments in her wacky hair history:

Little Indy with no chemicals, dye, or cutting but look closely, all of that blowdrying left her with dry frizzy ends. Poor kid!

High school years with a relaxer, permanent dye, and color rinse not to mention a good hour of heat styling from a flat iron and curler. Then petroleum based grease was added to her hair eeek! Not very healthy hair.

First time going natural she stuck with braids and they look great, but the constant pulling left her wondering where her hairline disappeared to. Not to mention the overall thinning of her hair.

Sooo she returned to relaxing her already thin hair and to combat her missing hairline, she did what some refer to as the comb over at the young age of 22!

Finally Indy meets the staff at Silver Immersion and Erica Cote begins the process of getting her hairline back. Yaaay! Notice how thick her hair is and when blown out to be straight it is long enough to come past her shoulders again. But this is just the beginning of a long process. Her ends were still sadly dry, frizzy, and wouldn’t curl due to years of damage. It’s time for them to go!
Check back later today to see her new look!

My last relaxer was in January of 2006. I remember thinking, “My hair still curls whether I have a relaxer or not ,so why add another unnecessary chemical?” That’s when I decided. And you couldn’t pay me to go back.
